Plot Synopsis
Six directors, six stories about the Chinese diaspora in Southeast Asia. Two cousins, one Thai and one Chinese, reunite in Bangkok in Aditya Assarat's young and wistful Now Now Now. Royston Tan's short explores the meaning behind one Singapore family's tradition of making Popiah, a spring roll eaten on the Qingming Festival. A woman visits her dying grandfather in the Burmese countryside in Midi Z's Burial Clothes. In Sun Koh's Singapore Panda, a veteran radio announcer faces changes at work after his station gets bought out. Malaysian director Tan Chui Mui converses with a ghost of the past in A Night In Malacca, and Tsai Ming-liang reflects on his Malaysian hometown of Kuching in Walking On Water.
